Kent
Would you like to work in direct partnership with the MD of a successful M&E Contractor, gaining exposure to every part of the business and fast-tracking your career in project management?
We’re working with a well-established Mechanical and electrical Contractor based in Kent. They're known for delivering high-quality projects across sectors, including Commercial, Residential, Education, Healthcare, and more. They’ve built a strong reputation through consistent delivery, a tight-knit team culture, and long-standing client relationships.
This is a rare and unrivalled opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Project Manager to step into a business-critical role—working side-by-side with the Managing Director for 6–12 months. You'll gain a 360-degree understanding of how a thriving M&E contracting business is run, from pre-construction to project delivery and client management.
The Role – Assistant Project Manager:
In this role, you’ll shadow and support the MD across all aspects of the business, giving you a unique level of insight and experience. Over time, you'll take on more responsibility across multiple live projects while also gaining exposure to estimating, commercial management, and strategic operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supporting the MD on project planning, delivery and day-to-day operations
• Attending client and site meetings, internal reviews and commercial discussions
• Helping manage project timelines, subcontractor coordination, and procurement
• Developing understanding of health & safety, commercial control and quality assurance
• Working across a broad range of project types within M&E
What We’re Looking For:
• Some experience in construction or building services (M&E preferred, but not essential)
• Strong interest in developing a long-term career in project management
• Confident communicator with the ability to learn quickly and take initiative
• Organised, reliable, and eager to grow within a close-knit, ambitious team
Why This Role?
This isn’t just a standard APM role—it’s a unique development opportunity to learn directly from a business leader who is passionate about mentoring and growing future talent. If you're looking for a clear path to becoming a Project Manager and want to understand how an M&E contractor truly operates from the inside out, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
