This growth has been brought about by a very strong pipeline of work and therefore provides the opportunity for a Building Surveyor. Due to repeat clients built up over 20+ years, there is now an opportunity to further capitalise on this by expanding out their Building Surveying services.
  
They have now opened an office in Guernsey and want you to join the team. 
  
You will be joining a cohesive team of RICS Accredited Chartered Quantity Surveyors with diverse backgrounds and experiences including, commercial, office developments, high end residential, leisure, hotel and infrastructure projects all to support the Jersey and Guernsey markets.

Our client offers full sponsorship/licences to work/live on the Island and offer full support in finding accommodation and becoming a full-time citizen. They offer a relocation package and genuinely care about the right person joining and settling in if the correct person decides to relocate.

The Building Surveyor:
  • Strong building surveying experience is essential. Ideally, RICS-qualified or, alternatively, with 7+ years of relevant experience or on their APC journey.
  • Project management/coordination experience is critical, and QS experience is preferred.
  • Degree qualified
  • Ambitious and capable of working independently
  • Eager for greater responsibility and comfortable working in a small team
  • Excellent communication skills
  
Responsibilities of the Building Surveyor:
  • Conduct Building Surveys: Perform detailed inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to assess their condition and identify defects, maintenance needs, or renovation opportunities.
  • Prepare Reports: Produce high-quality, detailed reports on building conditions, including schedules of dilapidations, condition surveys, and planned maintenance schedules.
  • Project Management: Oversee construction, refurbishment, and renovation projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
  • Prepare Plans and Specifications: Develop detailed design plans and technical specifications for building works, ensuring compliance with regulations and client requirements.
  • Monitor Compliance: Ensure that all projects meet statutory regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.
  • Contract Administration: Manage contracts, including tendering, negotiation, and monitoring performance to ensure delivery of agreed outcomes.
  • Conduct Feasibility Studies: Evaluate the viability of proposed developments or refurbishments, including cost estimations and risk assessments.
  • Advise on Maintenance: Provide expert advice on planned maintenance strategies, asset management, and life-cycle costing to preserve property value.
  • Dilapidations and Lease Advice: Prepare dilapidation schedules and provide guidance on lease obligations for both landlords and tenants.
  • Client Liaison: Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and contractors, ensuring clear communication and a high level of service throughout the project lifecycle.
